You should delete Trojan viruses in Safe Mode. In Safe Mode the malicious virus can't move around. Print out your Anti-Virus Software Scan Results.
First clear the temporary Internet files on your computer.
Next, temporarily turn off System Restore if your computer runs Windows Me or Windows XP as System Restore may back up the malicious code on the computer if it becomes damaged.
Do 'start', 'all programs', 'accessories', 'systems tools', 'system restore', System Restore panel comes up and now click 'System Restore Settings' and tick 'Turn Off System Restore in All Drives'. Click 'OK'.
Restart in Safe Mode. Go to 'My Computer' and open the area that is infected and delete the exact corrupted file by "Left Clicking Once" with your mouse and then (pressing simultaneously the keys SHIFT and DEL). If the file is an .exe file and you left click twice, then it reinstalls the file. Ooops!
Now Restart your Computer and it will go back to Standard Mode. Run your Anti-Virus Software Scan again.
If the Trojan is in D Drive and D Drive is Protected and you therefore cannot open the folders to remove the Trojan, by either "right click - open" or "right click - explore", then you will need to change the properties on these protected files and folders in D drive in order to access them and delete the Trojan..
Follow these steps:
In Safe Mode, Open 'My Computer' and click 'Tools' menu, select 'Folder Options", select 'View' tab:
- select "Show all hidden files and folders"
- deselect "Hide Operating system protected files"
- deselect "Hide extensions for known files types".
Click "Apply to all folders", then OK.
Now you can delete the Trojan in Safe Mode
Follow these steps:
Browse in 'My Computer' looking in D Drive. If 'clicking' or right click 'Open' does not open these folders, then right click "Explore". Keep doing this until you reach the sub-folder you are looking for. Click once the infected file (not twice, as this reinstalls it) and simultaneously depress the keys SHIFT and DEL. Now it is gone.
Reboot the computer to get back into 'Standard Mode' and perform another scan.
If the Trojan is gone, then go back into System Restore and turn it back on.
Trojan Still There? - then registry editing or other treatments are needed.
If all else fails, then hopefully you created a Recovery Disk when you first brought your computer home, then you're in luck. This will restore your computer back to its factory defaults.
